Tim Mak is UAE Advisor to the Thompson Family Office, where he provides strategic guidance and organizational oversight across the region. With over 20 years of international experience spanning Asia, North America, and the Middle East, Tim brings a governance-led approach to supporting family office operations and cross-border investments.
He has held senior roles at global institutions, advising high-net-worth families and private entities on succession planning, trust structures, regulatory compliance, and multi-jurisdictional governance frameworks. Having spent the last nine years in the Gulf region, Tim also advises a range of ventures and organizations navigating regulatory and operational challenges in the UAE.
A CFA charterholder and Singapore-qualified lawyer, Tim holds a Juris Doctor from Singapore Management University, a BA in Economics from Macalester College, and an Executive MBA from London Business School. He speaks Mandarin and conversational Arabic.
Tim lives in Dubai with his wife and three children.
